Hope AMD allows full unlock of TDP limits on "K" versions.

Im surprised they dont release some of the 6 and 8 cores on the fm2+ and drop the ancient am3 already

Well, they kinda can't. These CPUs cap at 4.1 GHz Turbo while their FX CPUs cap at 4.4. Also, APU/Athlon CPUs lack L3 cache, which applications and games love very much. So a 6 core APU/Athlon clocked at 3.7 would still be significantly slower than an 4 core FX 4300 at 4-4.7 GHz, even in heavily multithreaded applications. They either need to add L3 cache to APUs or release new FX CPUs better sooner than later.

also the AM socket have not the same ability compared to FM... FM is for "entry level"... but i agree it would be nice to replace AM (wich is a bit old now in possibility) with a new socket that could be compatible (if it is possible) with FM... why not?

Not that Kevari doesn't perform well, but I kind of think AMD is kicking their self by doing this...

It appears to me that by refreshing kaveri AMD is just trying to sell the remaining chips that they've stockpiled. They are clearly doing away with the bulldozer line and moving on to ZEN/K12. I believe Carrizo APUs will never see the light of day. OEMs have already chosen broadwell so there's no place for AMD in neither mobile nor enthusiasts market. It's a shame as I was going to use one of those APUs in my HTPC.

They shot themselves in the face again ("Cheney'd" themselves without even going hunting) with those marketing statements about the huge performance improvements Carrizo possesses. Instead of suffering further humiliation they killed off the line since reality did not live up to those lofty marketing statements.

Don't say that... I really really want a Carrizo CPU on my next HTPC :-\ Basically because there should be one that runs a bit faster than the A4-5000 (IMHO a very nice HTPC APU), it will have Dx12 support, full HSA, and hardware h.265 decoding; all while using probably less than 15-18 Watts, perfect for leaving the HTPC on 24/7 for using it as a light-weight home-server (ftp, plex, p2p, owncloud... whatever rocks your world)

Fm2+ has everything am3 has and more minus the L3 cache which i believe is the only thing stoping them from doing any higher end stuff with it. It really is a wonderfull chipset imo

You are using the term wrong: Cheney shot someone ELSE in the face - and then that person apologized for being shot. You have to be one bad mother to shoot someone in the face and have that person apologize to you for being shot by you. 🙂

This is true, and also look at say the 860k performance versus the FX4 series. The 860k can match it and sometimes even overtake it despite lacking that l3 cache.

Bummer, I think Carrizo would be a good chip for an HTPC. I really would like to do a build with a Carrizo APU and HDMI 2.0.

You'll most definitely find Carrizo chips as non-replacable motherboards for HTPC applications.

AFAIK, Kaveri and Godavari are rivers of India. AMD interested on rivers too much? Eco-Friendly? R9 290X electricity bill can sustain an African village for a long time. The 380 or above feature HBM, good news.

^Go away with these silly posts the 780ti used almost the same amount of power and the 290x only ran hot with the stock cooler. If u like high prices then keep bashing amd u fanboy.
