What about steamroller??? Is kaveri based upon steamroller architecture?

Where is Volcanic Islands we have been hearing about then? Seems Nvidia once again have the monopoly thanks to their insane R&D department.

These are the CPU's, seems to be notebook / mobile related. 🙂 EDIT: Oh there were a few GPU details when scrolling further down the article. :P (But again it's just the OEM 8000 series.)

No Steamroller FX this year?
probably not. I'm reading various dates between late 2013-early 2014

No real hurry for the VI is there, not when Nvidia are just overclocking their over year old 6 series and re-releasing them.

AMD needs to have some OEM wins for Temash soon or they are going to be in real trouble.

5.0ghz with a TDP of 220w :bang:
Well, at least you can make waffles out of your heatsink for breakfast. :P

This cause waffles are freaking awesome. If this thing is under 300$ it honestly has my eye. Could turn my 990fx rig that will be my backup into a monster. 5.0ghz single threaded for BD is about equal to stock 3770k?

Not really the GTX770 is more powerful than the 680 and has more CUDA cores and more VRAM and performs better too. The GTX780 destroys it, and it destroys TITAN as well costing 30% less but performing only 10% less so getting a TITAN now would be foolish. I really want AMD to bring this Volcanic Island with its rumoured specs of 512bit bus 4GB GDDR5, 4096 shader cores, 64 ROP's, and 128TMU's (I think that's right lol) on a 20nm process. This thing would be a complete and utter beast and it would out perform anything Nvidia has to offer even the TITAN it would probably match or just pull ahead of the 7990 due to it being single core and not having to rely of driver profiles. I wouldn't mind if they priced it between the TITAN and 780, this would cause some controversy as it would outperform both of those cards 🙂 I would buy one day one!

Yes... Kaveri is supposed to be based on Steamroller...

Yep, typo thanks for spotting that.

I think your thinking of the 3770k and 4770k Myn is oced to 5ghz at 1.5v and it dont get over 70c.. Doesnt a 4770k hit 70c just idling at 4.7ghz :P

Nah. My 3770K clocks down in idle to 1.6GHz automagically. There the cores fluctuate somewhere between 22 and 31 degrees Celsius. I assume something like that can be achieved with a 4770K as well.

No, I'm thinking of waffles. =| But like Gizmo said, 3770K and 4770K don't do such temps on idle. Where did you read a 4770K doing such temps at idle? Also, you can only compare temps with your system if the one being compared used the same exact cooler, or at least in performance. If you use custom and comparing temps to systems with stock coolers, I might as well stick your arse to a hot waffle iron. :whip:

I know i was just pokin at ya alitttle. It will be interesting to see what kind of cooler they send with it.. It will most likly be a H90 equivalent. But it is said that thats the main problem with IB and haswell is they are HOT.. Now anyone with one of them saying the FX series is way to hot is saying hello pot hello kettle.. My fx btw idle is about 35c with no powersaving features on. I would use them if i left my pc on 247 but since i only use my pc is only on when im using it, well it really makes no sense to me..

Yea that’s great and all but the AMD platform is gutless and out of date. No PCI-E lanes in Cpu IPC is slow, memory controller is slow, SATA 6 is slower, usb3 isn't third party tech and anything over 4.5GHZ is hot, don’t mean to poke at ya but your beating a dead horse. As much as ppl want to say “so what no pci-e in the cpu is doesn’t mean anything” but yes it’s still an improvement PC technology.
