"GPU-accelerated particle physics" Did you hear that, Nvidia? That's how it should be done, not with your ****ty Phys-X! But why no Mantle?

This game is really good.

Because even AMD cpu can do 100+ fps i guess. Its really "lightweight" game, till you start downsampling ofc...

Yeah AMD CPU's are fine for Single Card solutions. People bash em, of course Intel is faster, but as long as it's a Piledriver core, there is no problem running an AMD CPU in a gaming rig. The only exception IMHO would be SLI/CFX. I would not even try with AMD personally. Why those in a budget should not fear AMD especially at 1080p.

I have to say people did a very good job on this game it looks really good and even mid range cards can play it really, really well.

Well, the game is a corridor close range one. for sure you will not kill framerate with expensive landscape. Now, looking at the base of the engine, its interessant to see the workaround Creative assembly have bring for end with excellent performance on the end. Make me thing they could have goes way higher on quality ( but the game look good as it is ).. If we look only framerates, it is effectively really well optimized across a large range of GPU's. We have seen lately games well under this quality with poor performance whatever is the hardware used.

I totally agree. Their chips are fine for single GPU setups. Heck even an APU 7850K doesn't bottleneck an R9 290. I seen TechSyndicate on youtube slap in a top end card and that CPU supported it fine.

Yep and I find it hilarious how "next gen" consoles are capped at 30fps and STILL have dips in frame rates with this game!

Yes and no... the graphics use features in console who are not really admitted generally. There's not much difference outside some details here and there. ( I dont say it use the Very high quality setting, but its not so bad ). I ask me how much CPU computing are eat by the procedural AI alone. I know procedural AI used on Flight combat simulator ( like DCS ), it is really powerfull at canibalize process time. Even if there we are mostly speaking about one AI character ( the Alien ). Will be interessant to use GPUperf and watch this. As for the dips, i had the feeling this was mostly during the "pre-rendered" , videos sequences on console ( and that is a bit funnny too lol ). But i see what you mean .

And from what I understand this game Engine was built specifically for this game.. so the developers certainly have done an excellent job in that regard. The lighting in the game is amazing.

I wonder how much scarier would the game be when played in 3D vision 2.

What do you think about occulus ?

I haven't been keeping up with it really, so I don't know that much about it. Other then the kits costing alot of money. I don't know how i would feel about it, til I actually use it. But that be when it comes out retail and i hope affordable.

So, had I waited a bit longer before getting my R9 290 (sixish months), I'd have gotten it a lot cheaper now due to the price drop and Alien: Isolation with it for free... One word: damn!

Yeah the lighting reminds me of Metro: last light, except in this game it performs way better.

I remember when people heard that Alien: Isolation is by Creative Assembly all hell broke loose and children were sacrificed to satan. Cause you know CA can't make a game that isn't broken. 😀 It is weird and awesome that they did so good with their first fp game.

I didn't even get any games with 290x cause we had no promotions whatsoever here in finland for amd and games...
