AMD said double the performance of previous gen. If it isn't clocked bellow 2GHz it will be a phenomenal win.

I wouldn't blame AMD if Epyc2 is the main concern for Zen2 arc. Matisse is nice and all, but considering how much they push servers CPUs and promote them, I wouldn't expect big difference for desktop CPUs. Maybe it's unrelated, but the lack of leaks for Matisse makes me wonder....

again, its been a while but remember that matisse was already better than a i9900k at least on Cinebench 8 vs 8 cores. Remember that we are talking about a Ryzen 5 type of CPU vs a i9900k so...

AMD did the test not for performance but for power consumption which was indeed impressive thanks to 7nm: AMD system drew just 133W compared to 180W for the equivalent Intel system - that was the whole point of the much famed benchmark... Nobody knows what speed/type the AMD CPU was running - the whole point was power draw on similar number of cores and the same benchmark. Now Epyc will be...epic with that amount of cache and cores but again no price....

Not similar number of cores, but same. And as intel ate that amount of power, it was not really downclocked. You can check what kind of score people get with 9900K at what clock. No reason to speculate about something that's already written in stone.
