Sigh...
This will fuel "AMD is dieded" talks.

.. why haven't they 'officially' price cut 290s when they clearly said they want competition? Sorry but the 970 is eating the 290 and 290x alive.

@nanogenesis, not sure if you're from antarctica or what, but in my country all avaliable 970s cost nearly 400€ while a 290X can be had for around 350€, and 290s go for 280-290€.
970 also kinda sucks at 4K, especially if you SLI. Think I'm gonna go 290 CF with these prices.
BLEH!
The XBone and PS4 will be helping them, as will the partnerships with ASUS, etc. I see no reason to upgrade my main rig yet, until the teething issues with X99 are sorted out. My GFX will always be AMD, for the price:perf ratio, just waiting on the 390X. Gunna get an AM1 rig for messing around with. It's the little bits of support that help.

*Sigh* Thankfully, AMD is not going anywhere but, it does not feel good to be down. However, the new CEO, bringing back the talent that once may their cpu's top dog and what seems like a renewed focus should bring things around.
Think long term, not just today I say. Although, I have to admit, I am looking forward to their new cpu's whenever they are out. I see no reason to "upgrade" to Intel when I will not benefit from it compared to how much I would have to spend. (Both my computers are working solid, fast and run virtual machines.) Cheap, mid to low end Intel will not be doing that because they disable the Virtualized hardware extensions and keep them only for their more expensive machines.
The real trick will be what happens in the stock market. After all, it is fueled there by feelings as much as fact.
