Interesting to see how the Ryzen architecture will perform coupled with 8GB GDDR5. I also wonder how the CPU will be build up, with one CCX with 4 cores enabled or 2 CCX with 2+2 cores. Because if I recall correctly that's where the RAM speeds mattered, with the CXX to CCX communication. And how many CU's do today's consoles have on their GPU ?

its a single CCX for APUs since the remaining space is used by the vega core, ram will matter even more but instead of affecting cpu it will affect the GPU very substantially

Wonder how many consoles they might sell. This could also be interresting for budget pc gamer builds if the price is competetive.

Amd has the consul world by the basketballs haha. I wonder tough howcome Nvidia has not made an attempt at its own chip for same purpose. Either way Amd is holding it down way to go .

- Because x86 Designing a competitive x86 CPU is not a trivial matter, and second, only Intel, AMD, and VIA hold x86 license.

i wonder why with all the bullshit of competitive market, no one protested yet about the x86 license. Anyway i was reading the headline, and i was wondering why it would be just as a ps4 pro. Is 24 vega units so slow? i mean ps4pro is not that much GPU inside.

Unfortunately my laziness hasn't been rewarded yet and I'm getting impatient so I'll answer my own question. PS4 Pro CPU 2.1GHz 8-core AMD Jaguar GPU 4.2 TFLOP AMD Radeon (36CU, 911MHz) 6.0 TFLOP Memory 8GB GDDR5 + 1GB Xbox One X CPU 2.3GHz 8-core AMD Jaguar GPU 6.0 TFLOP AMD Radeo AMD Radeon (40CU, 1.172GHz) Memory 12 GB GDDR5

Update 2: AMD has updated its press release to state that it is the GDDR5 controller that is on the chip, and not the 8 GB of GDDR5. The memory is installed on the board elsewhere, as with a normal GPU for example.

You don't understand this article right. The press release state: Ryzen with 1.3 GHz 24 CU strong Vega IGP paired with 8GB GDDR5. Paired is not INTERGRATED memory in the chip like HBM it's just solderd on the same board or maybe some socket for memory near SoC.

Too bad it is not for the Atari VCS. OK, too expensive but that would have made more sense than their future failed attempt to release a low spec console

Hi Capt. McFlying Obvious You may want to redirect your complaints to AMD, because this is straight from the horse's mouth: *UPDATE 8/3/18 to clarify it is the GDDR5 memory controller that is on the chip. https://community.amd.com/community/gaming/blog/2018/08/03/new-amd-semi-custom-soc-combines-the-power-of-amd-ryzen-cpu-and-amd-vega-gpu-for-gamers-in-china#comments :)

My only complaint is that passive cooling is still a no-go with decently specced machines like this one.

As i sad 256-bit GDDR5 interface onto a single chip and 8GB of GDDR5 on the motherboard. READ ¨INTERFACE¨ on SoC and memory on the motherboard. What are you don?t understand.

How thick are you that you can't understand "redirect your complaints to AMD" I merely quoted their Update END OF RINE --------------------------------------RINE END HERE [youtube=o9C9OKMyZng] :)

Interesting to see what a non-subsidized AMD soc with Zen and Vega costs in 2018. I wonder how much more can be done in a few years with scarlett for PS5/Xbox 2.
