Wonderful news, I say. The only thing, why it wasn't presented at CES?

There weren't any reasons for this to happen.

The publicity / public awareness boost might have been beneficial, considering Ampere's perhaps similar-ish timing.

Lets hope they wont take too long. Amd needs to get back at high end.

Sales are at consoles and mid range. No pcmr and tech enthusiasts. 5600xt was the best move for money making at the current period. We all know each new games releasing period starts after summer.

If they stabilize drivers until then, it will be a dream. I hope they can do both performance gpu and fixes. It is a truly daring bet to set...

Previously, Lisa SU had only stated that Big Navi was coming. There was no date or period attached, and people were assuming that it could be very very far away, like even 2021. If it is coming this year, then it might be waiting to see what Nvidia brings to the table. Isn't there a Tech thing in March somewhere where they could show it ?

Yes please, I will not buy any high end card, but it will further reduce the price of the cards like 5700 xt hopefully, and thats the performance range Im looking at atm. Im also VERY interrested in what kind of RayTracing will AMD present.

It's not like Nvidia would have revealed awfully much about Ampere either, though. Besides, AMD has accumulated some bad experience with hype of late, as far as flagship GPUs go. I deem it a wise move to remain tight-lipped until they have plenty of concrete stuff to tell and show, near enough to the release.

The thing is, that amd has driver problems. For example my monitor enables freesync only with hdmi and no with displayport since radeon 2020 suite. Bug list is huge. New tech with problems, it will be a disastrous launch. Not mentioning amd is not willing to support VRR before hdmi 2.1. At least Nvidia has everything, gsync, freesync and vrr. Amd only has fsync. Lol! Big Navi also will not have new HDMI 2.1. No futureproofness at all whatsoever from AMD.

They will take just long enough for Nvidia to have 7nm+ ampere ready to drop 2 weeks after.

Meh, personally I have waited entirely too long for AMD to put out ANYTHING high end wise in the GPU dept. I have accepted the fact that if you want performance, you will have to pay what Nvidia is charging..

You are right about that if I want a high end graphics card, then I have no choice , but to pay whatever Nvidia wants!

AMD follows nVidia down the Ray Tracing road, and that's fine, but I'm not willing to pay a ton of money for a -great- feature on such an early stage, and with so limited support. Maybe if one day Ray Tracing is supported by the majority of games, and you get really good RT performance at 1080p with a sub 500€ GPU, I'll consider updating my new 5700 XT. I do believe we need the competition though. We've already seen Intel slash their prices on the HEDT segment as a responce to Zen. I'd love to see the same thing happen to the GPU market.

AMD cards will have specific memory related "chip" to ray tracing.
