I'm not sure I believe that statement...

they may be referring to the gpu bit of it. i do, however, wonder, how small the fabrication of the chips will get. 7nm? It would be nice to see more efficient parts none the less. i mean i would love to see a 32core chip at 45 watts

Improvements over 6 years? Duhhh :P

i'm unable to see beyond Skylake at this point in time, that for me is the future right there, but sure integrated ain't so bad i was on it a few weeks, 1080 hd vids are fine and surprisingly nice IQ too.

Will games like Crysis 3 be playable on a SmartPhone by then?

It would seem they've made a breakthrough in heterogeneous computing. I could guess they now have a choice to make and they've decided to go with efficiency. Meaning they don't have to worry so much about intel bribing reviewers to only use outdated means of benchmarking their processors. Good move imo!

I got to say when I read the headline I was thinking, damn, 2020 - so futuristic - then I had this mental pause and realised it's in 6 years. Freaky.

Bold claims, but we like goals like that. AMD states that byÂ*2020 APUs will beÂ*25x more efficient. Well, extrapolating that, efficient does not mean faster. And in fact they are talking about energy... AMD: APUs to get 25x more efficient by 2020
I would like to see if they can back that up. only 6 years to find out.

better question is how long will the battery live trying to play it.

That's exactly what I thought to myself too. My Q6600 is about 7 years old and is on 65nm lithography. The stuff we're getting now is 22nm. Do the math and it'll be more efficient in another 6-7 years too.

24 core on 2 triple A batteries. *Works Best on Eveready®*

Not THAT bold as it may seem at first. They are really talking about AVERAGE power consumption, about continuous power management, battery life, returning to idle as fast as possible etc... I.e. AMD does not set the goal at improving intensive continuous workloads 25x times.
