That's not really an issue to be honest. The max that these lanes would be used would be a 4x PCIe SSD and a 8x GPU. This is GEN3, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue at all. More impressive is that the Southbridge is completely integrated, I wonder if Zen does the same. If it does, it will be the first performance-minded mainstream CPU to do so, and it will probably cut down I/O latencies tremendously.

Bout time they came out with something! I wonder how they perform I read up-to 54% faster then previous gen Apu's.Price is also a big factor if they wanna be able to sell alot of them.I will be keeping my eye on this my kid needs a new build.

couldn't they put a chip on the mobo to handle extra pcie lanes like on dual gpu cards ? lookin forwards to seeing what these run like amd really seem to have something special coming could even push intel too

That only raises latencies, since the chip itself will be limited in its communication with the CPU. For systems like that 12 lanes are actually fine. I can't imagine anyone sane going for a dual GPU setup with an APU.

I find the integrated southbridge particularly intriguing. I'm not sure that Zen will have that though.

Can't see a reason why not, if it does reduce system latency it would be silly to bring a new idea like that just to drop it on the next round, they are moving towards a new way of thinking with hsa I wish em luck

Are these E type of processors with 35W realy for desktop PCs? Looks more like for Laptops.

considering 16x PCI-Express is 8x PCI-Express 2.0, and does have a performance difference, but PCI-Express 2.0 16x is PCI-Express 3.0 8x, and currently does not show a difference between PCI-Express 2.0 16x and 3.0 16x, i'm not sure how you think 12x would be a problem, since it's inbetween those, and they don't have a real-world performance difference (yet)

I'm fairly certain that's already how it is, though i could be wrong? According to the slide it looks like the CPU itself as 8x PCI-Express 3.0 lanes, while chipset A320 4x PCI-Express 3.0 lanes bringing it to a total of 12 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes, and chipset B350 has 6x PCI-Express 3.0 lanes bringing it to a total of 14 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes

35w is still a little high for a laptop, it would be one thing if these were high performance gaming systems but they won't be.

GPU performance of the 9800 should be about the performance of the r7 250x, just a bit less on higher resolutions and filtering because of ddr4 versus gddr5.

These are A-series processors for Desktop, not E-series. E-series processors are "ULP" processors based on the Bobcat and Jaguar architectures. They would never develop an E-series processor using Excavator. It's too power hungry.

35w might seem high in a a laptop but if u consider the gpu power it comes with its actually pretty good
