Yeah. Got so pissed when i saw it that i tried to remove my game and account from their developer platform. Guess what, don't even have the option.

Someone remind me - did they exclude patent protection and IP rights from the TTIP? Cause if they didn't, I'd start worrying.

It's easy to go around this patent, you just use 1 more or 1 less light and/or in a different angle. But seriously damn them. A friend suggested that a legal firm just wanted to get Amazon as their client and got the patent to prove to them that they can be nasty.

Corporations are not here to innovate and help the client/consumer, their whole purpose is profit. And maybe because clients were turned to consumers.

Give me a break. First of all Amazon has nearly never turned a profit in 20 years. Second there are tons of companies that innovate and help the consumer. Amazon itself with Prime has been a godsend to me. I've saved thousands over going to retail stores and I've found significantly better products via their ratings system and product reviews. Then you have companies like Tesla/Space X that are furthering space exploration and taking huge risks. Medical companies that spend billions in R&D which sometimes lead to complete dead ends. Etc. And yeah, obviously these companies eventually expect to make money and they should make money. That's part of what inspires people to take huge risks and investors as well. As for this patent, who knows why Amazon wants this or the PTO granted it. Regardless, this would never actually hold up in a court if Amazon tried to like sue every photographer so it's a moot point anyway.

@Denial: That. Plus, what better way to make money than to please the customer and make then on your side so that they return.

Well I never used Amazon, at least directly. They never turned a profit publicly, or maybe that's why they are trying patent trolling to finally get profit from helping others. And most of those R/D billions are to get around taxes, and/or to get more millions. You see a cure is not profitable at least in the long run. But this is a consumer fault too because we just demand shiny things that seem to work/palliatives, just look at GPUs market. And of course there are companies that look first to client demand and then profit, but they are just a few.

How can you patent such things? If one would want to patent a triangle? or is it already patented in the US?

I would like to patent, the way that you submit a patent. So when someone patents something dumb, i sue them for using my patent for patenting. (You draw a technical sketch. You or your layer drives to the patent office. Files the patent by giving it to the patent guy...)

Im embarrassed by the US patent system. This is just sad. Common sense is gone here. Logical reasoning and problem solving are non existent.

So if I sell a product on Ebay and use a white background using similar method, I have to pay royalties?

I'm pretty much embarrassed by anything America anymore including our own lazy citizens that refuse to really do anything about it or throw people out of office or impose new laws to prevent greed or lobbying and stupid patents. If we did that as much as Texas puts criminals to death, we might not have such issues.
