I bet this has apalling write speed.

+1 I also fear for read speeds.

It connects to devices using USB 3.1 at up to 5Gbps
So... it connects to devices using USB 3.0? Funny to me how ADATA is pulling an Apple here. Take a generic design that many other companies have used, add some curves to it, and suddenly it's stylish. Example: http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_146399_1.jpg

yeah the speeds, especially write, of so many memory sticks is so bad. Most only hit about 15MB/s write without going high budget. Most half decent ones these days can Write 35MB/s & Read 100 - 150MB/s. - not too bad but large file writes can still feel very slow. About 2 years back I bought a re(own)brand generic USB 3 128GB stick from a place called 7DayShop. They usually provided performance figures for all the sticks they sell (+ user reviews). That stick cost me about £23 inc. delivery and could when I tested mine (slightly higher than stated perf. too): Write - 69 MB/s Read - 206 MB/s Great right. 6 months later I went to buy a few more and found their performance was halved (which they did also point out in provided perf. figs). A friend also bought one at this point and confirmed this, unfortunately he had not noticed the "new" performance stats beforehand. A few months back I had another look and ALL the brands of high performance & good value sticks were no longer available. I checked a few other online UK stores too, same kinda story. (I did not do a Thorough research like I did a few years back and am sure there are still some great options out there, but Damn it can be hard work drilling down to find actual performance of the good value sticks) Seems like almost no consumer happiness improvements in these things for ages to me.

@Humanoid_1 Have you tried TRIMing the flash drives? Windows is pretty sloppy when it comes to TRIM, where it attempts to do it on a schedule rather than in real-time. That being said, flash drives have a much lower probability of being optimized since they're not always plugged in.

@schmidtbag I have not noticed a performance drop of the original stick I bought, just that the new versions of the same stick (looks identical, apart from honestly stated stats listed on the product page) have halved performance. When I find where it is I will retest it again later today, you got me curious now 🙂 EDIT: it is hiding well somewhere atm...

@schmidtbag I eventually found that flash drive hidden in a side pocket of a rucksack I rarely use. Using CrystalDiskMark 4.0.3 (same version I last tested with) I got Sequential Read & Write: Read = 218.3 MB/s Write = 63.33 MB/s Pretty happy with that for a £20 stick. Now I just need to find one of similar performance that is available to buy at such a price today.

Nice, so it was just a TRIM problem all along?

haha I wasn't expecting such a quick reply there, impressive ! The stick always worked as it should, the problem is that the new models of the same stick are more than twice as slow as the one I bought ages ago. - that and all the varieties of high performance / low price sticks disappeared from vendors I am familiar with. IF I find any new similar great deals in the next few weeks (kinda busy atm) I will report back here. Would just neatly wrap this up 🙂
