Looking at the humble reads and writes, wouldn't this be a good drive for the secondary PCIe x2 M.2 ports of some Ryzen mobos?

A 2x M.2 Will provide 1700~ considering overhead max read/write. But doesn't mean a 960 pro wouldn't benefit. Of course on large files it won't but 960 evo/pro will be much faster in small file read/writes too so you'll have to take that into account. Depends on the price though, if it's significantly cheaper than an evo it should be pretty decent.
