I bet it's the same bull **** Asus pulled on their monitor calling it IPS aka Image Perfect Screen. So it's not IPS as in In-plane switching.
Not really.

4ms response time, though not as good as TN, not bad...i may look into this monitor. I'm not sure i want the 1440p...simply because it'll be a strain on my graphics card, but we'll see...

But then, G-Sync comes to save you.

Trouble is with G-sync is that you're then tied to Nvidia, I couldn't guarantee what my next card will be so I wanted to leave my options open and got a "normal" 144hz monitor. Kinda wish I'd have waited now with "freesync" just around the corner. Still, gives me an excuse for a multi-monitor setup.

3d vision Anyone know if it will support 3dVision? After the Asus Swift release I thought any 120mhz and over monitor that supports g-sync also supports 3dVision??? the G-Sync TN version of this monitor ( Acer XB270H ) supports 3Dvision with the USB emitter! However amazon charges $599 fer this version[/URL] ( and only supports 1920X1080 ) amazon.com/Acer-XB270H-Abprz-27-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00NUCRBCU/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1420897163&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=Acer+XB270Hu :(

Heard any news of this? Or anyone else for that matter, I'm very interested in this monitor and would really appreciate if it were to support 3D Vision.

They should finally drop this active 3D BS headache generator. It will not work with g-sync and mechanisms which would allow it are just waste of resources when passive 3D is that much superior and cheaper. One should realize that motion flow from up to 144Hz gives that much better 3D experience. And having 2560x1440 active 3D with 72Hz per eye versus 2560x720 passive 3D with 144Hz gives exactly same amount of pixels per second to each eye, but without blinking. And it is that much smoother, no ghosting. And passive 2560x720 per eye has just 11% less pixels per eye than total amount of pixels on 1080p.

I was thinking about getting this display, but I'm really dreading any inferior panel technologies when it comes to image quality. My current Dell has an S-PVA panel and the blacks are black even when viewed from an angle, whereas with this IPS panel that doesn't seem to be the case :\

Your right. Having black blacks are a must for a gamer and HD mobies/blu-ray... I'm picky as hell about image quality, contrast, colour accuracy and deep blacks. I've owned all sorts of panels and when I had my first IPS panel, there is no going back... Heck my eyes bleed due to the sharpness and the wonderful colours it displays, oozes quality...

Now only If response time was 1ms!! guess will have to wait.

There is no monitor that I know of with an actual 1ms response time for any of the metrics they use (GTG, BTW, etc...) even if the specs say so. That includes the ROG Swift. Check the TFTCentral article and you'll find a chart comparing the two monitors' response times.
