LOL 180hz on UW 1440p and only HDR400. What a joke. Even GTX 3090s have trouble with 1440p UW depending on the game.

It has a peak of 550nits in hdr mode and 3090 and 6900xt would drive 1440p ultrawide no problem.

What games? My 3090 XC3 ultra hybrid handles anything on my 48inch cx although 180 hz on an ultrawide would be challenging to render.

Currently have 6800xt @ 3440x1440 100hz and there are now games I dont hit 100fps ultra settings. Even worse with Ray Tracing.

I have an ASUS Strix OC 3080 with an ASUS PG35VQ which I've set to 144Hz & 10 bit colour, I see 85-90 fps with RT & max quality when playing Metro Exodus (for instance). I wrote posts on guru3d years ago saying it would generations of cards before the cards could provide the performance UW & 4K gamers wished for. I might get 144fps with Metro Exodus RT & max quality in two generations of cards time. C'est la vie

I have to disagree. My 3080 with +120 core & +1000 VRAM clocks in games at ~2GHz core (1.9-2.1GHz), and 21 whatever you want to call it for the VRAM, putting it in stock RTX 3090 territory... and it still gets kicked in the nuts at 2560x1440. It's just barely enough to maintain medium-ish frame rates (100+) in games with some tuning, the only major setting I never turn down is textures which usually don't have much of an effect on anything but VRAM usage anyway. Either way, it's insulting that in this day and age they have the audacity to charge so much for a medium refresh rate HDR400 monitor, which isn't really HDR at all.

I get that. It really depends on the game your trying to play. Today we have some upscaling technologies that helps with that. I find that 100fps with 6800xt/3080 on 1440p UW is very respectable.

Wait, how is this news? I already have this monitor that I picked up months ago at microcenter for 899. The Acer X34GS. Best monitor I have ever used. Hdr is a joke if you enable it on games or windows but the panel itself once set to HDR is super bright and the colors are saturated just like I like them.

I was also confused by this because I read about the X34GS a while back - from what I can tell one of them has a full g-sync module (Which allows for the NVIDIA Reflex Latency stuff).. it also runs at 180hz out of the box, the other one doesn't have the module, just g-sync compatibility and needs to be overclocked.
A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 UltraWide) LG Display Nano IPS panel is employed. The ‘S’ model supports 180Hz via internal overclock and has a G-SYNC module for ‘full fat’ G-SYNC support. The ‘GS’ model goes up to 180Hz via internal overclock and offers Adaptive-Sync, including Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible Mode’ and AMD FreeSync.

I don't get the weird binary thing people do with these refresh rates "HEY GUYS I FOUND 3 GAMES IN MY LIBRARY THAT DOESN'T GO TO 100+ FPS THUS EVERY MONITOR THAT'S 180HZ IS A JOKE".. Looking at the steam top 20 played list like 80% of those titles I easily hit 150+fps on.

What ?? I'm on a 6800XT and 3440x1440 @ 144hz and have no issues. The only part about your post that is accurate is the HDR400 but at this price point you won't get the real thing until you spend $2000+

People severely exaggerate how powerful a 3080+ is, I try to give a realistic picture of what it's actually like. It isn't a few games, it's every modern-ish to modern game at 1440p that requires turning settings down to try to get good frame rates. I don't know what you're playing, but a 3080 will choke on any even mildly complex looking new game. And to be clear I don't use 3440x1440, I use 2560x1440. I'd obviously like to have a higher max refresh monitor for the games that my GPU can handle, what's outrageous is the prices they charge for stagnant technology that's barely improved in what feels like an eternity.

I think we need to start getting a list of these games that people video's cards are choking at when doing Ultrawide resolution. Post your resolution and gpu and games.

I'm getting confuse here. Is there multiple version of X34? Is this the 2022 version of X34?
