So when the prices drop, there is a sudden new limitation to availability, hiking up prices. Can't say that doesn't sound fishy.

May I get salary increase for having unstable performance too?

You mean the source article that has a single sentence more of what Hilbert noted in his OP? 😉 Na, sorry, I don't trust those companies anymore. They are under investigation for a reason, and that's why I don't believe them that both have issues at the same time. Sure they aren't making money on that, yet they aren't exactly losing out either, since their revenue will just switch to a later time this year. Meaning, they might be playing a few tricks to toy with taxes etc.

Never heard of the price of any in-demand product dropping (especially not "more quickly"!) based on supply uncertainty. Usually it results in the prices going up.

It's because of our current position in the universe; causing instability in high-precision crystalline structures, leading to malfunction when used in mission-critical error-correction environments, that can only be remedied by stopping production, gas contamination and raising prices.

I'm holding buying a new PC as long as ram prices won't come down, I'm not going to pay more than 100€ for 16Gb 3200Mhz. This is utter BS, Samsung is at 10nm or something and now two different major suppliers have production problems at the same time? Fucking fine them already, this is arranged price fixing!

When even the Chinese government stepped in about the potential corruption of these companies, I don't think these conspiracies are too rash.

Even 100 sounds like too much, IMO.

i forked 170 euros for 16gb 3000 and was the cheaper ones i could get ...but alas with dead mb it was either that or no computer ... i was not happy about it thought 😛

Naw €100 is reasonable for tight timings and 3200mhz 2x8GB. Hell I paid $220 for 2x8GB 3600mhz.

That's mental I paid £80 for 16 gigabutts in 2015. Glad I did that then

I paid around $75 including shipping for my 16GB of RAM at 3GHz @ 15-15-15-35, and I managed to get it to 3.2GHz with the same timings and perfect stability. I'm sure I could push it faster but my motherboard is extremely picky about the smallest adjustments so I haven't bothered - even if I worsen the timings, the system often won't boot. As of today, this same RAM is $170, not including shipping. I think it's pretty obvious your RAM is better than mine, but I'm not sure I'd say it's more than twice as good. You have to consider that RAM tends to be priced based on its stock speed. If your RAM's stock speed was 3.6GHz, I'd say $220 would've been a pretty decent price (especially for today's standards).

I agree but I still feel €100 is reasonable compared to what prices really are. It’s sad that I spent more on RAM and SSD’s in my new system than I spent on the CPU and motherboard.

Considering at some point it was 75€, I know how you feel. I bought my 16gb DDR3 for 150€, I'd pull the trigger if DDR4 gets at 100€.

I'm afraid of that, I hope my system holds or I'll be in a bad time for decisions. Sorry for your mb.

At least i sold my old ram as much i brought em(lol) and sold my 3770k. Got b350 and a ryzen 1600 (was a bit more than a month before the refresh comes out) overal was no way i am going to go threw a 2nd used motherboard for my 3770k .

The 16 GB DDR4 3200 that I bought for $130 about 16 months ago (which I thought was awful at the time) now costs almost double that. I'd be upgrading to 32 GB if prices were at all decent.

Yup just bought my 16GB G. Skill Flare 3200 CL14 for my 2700X and it was 258 usd from Newegg, maybe month ago. Crazy prices but I hadn't upgraded in a long time so I justified it that way, lol.

I think I was lucky, I got my new pc jan 2016 when ddr3 was still there and I could have chosen my mobo to be either 3 or 4, the price different was fairly negligible so I got 4. I mean I don't think the timings or speed are amazing (pretty much what you got at the time) but i've never cared about that, I got two of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00UVN2B8K/?th=1 the price has literally doubled since then, and the £ is much weaker too
