Windows 8.1 Update 2 Could Debut in July
The Russian super-leaker Wzor, who by the way is uncannily correct in his predictions, has pegged announcements on both operating systems coming on July 13-17 at the Worldwide Partner Conference.
The first tweet goes like this: "Windows 8.1 Update 2 will be announced during Microsoft WPC 2014 July 13-17 Win 9 beta will be probably presented same time. by WZT" And the second: "JUNE 06/26/14, WINDOWS 8.1 UPDATE 2 RTM Build sign-OFF is more likely occurring now! by WZT"
Update 2 probably won't have a desktop Start menu or a Modern-Mix style capability for running Metro apps inside resizable windows on the desktop. Instead, most bets emphasize plumbing changes in Update 2 and very little if anything on the UI side.
Immediately following the arrest of former Microsoft employee Alex Kibkalo, who was convicted of leaking Microsoft proprietary software, famed Windows leaker Wzor ducked out of sight. Although it was clear at the time that Wzor wasn't involved in the Kibkalo mess, discretion was the better part of valor, and Wzor turned off his/her/their website, stopped tweeting, and (according to Wzor) stopped working with contacts inside Microsoft. The leaker briefly re-appeared in April, but has stayed silent while the Kibkalo escapade unfolded.
Now Wzor is back, claiming on a Russian-language site that he fell silent because he didn't want to post anything that could be used against Kibkalo -- never mind the fact that Wzor never did anything with Kibkalo. Wzor now states (through a shaky Russian translation), "Personally, I do not know him, and I do not think he ever wants to meet me, especially in light of events happened to him."
With Kibkalo out of prison and back in Russia, Wzor is promising to re-institute his blog and resume his tweeting.

How is Update 2 a new windows? It's a service pack. And if you're talking about Windows 9, 8 came out in 2012 -- 9 will launch probably end of 2015. That's 3 years and 3 years is extremely long when they are competing against OS's that have 6 month update cycles.

Stick with an old one if you don't like updates, plenty of old versions of windows that you can choose from
Updates 'generally' improve things, why would you not want that?

You don't have to get a new Windows if you don't want to, i won't be for a good while, as nothing wrong with 7, and there still won't be when a new Windows comes out.

I felt the same way until I saw Windows 8 performance and clarity.
Windows 8 definitely is faster and provides a much sharper, much more clear picture in 2D and 3D. Better colors as well.
My eyes saw it almost right away after going back to my Win7 machine.
I guarantee you though, that if I could not have my startbar, I'd have never made the switch.
Plus some of the newer games coming out run better in Win 8/8.1. BF4 is the big one and I play it a good bit.
As for these update packages. They mean almost nothing to me since I use a startbar solution anyway "Start8". I can do all they are claiming they want to do in which is now referred to as "Update 3".
So ehhhh....they can take their time unless we have a huge security issue, then they better hurry up.

Why does a new windows have to be brought out every 1-2 years like its Call of Duty ?
