Star Citizen's Latest Ship has 100,000 Polygons

Cloud Imperium Games Technical Designer and resident CryEngine expert Dan Tracy explains the technology behind the stunning Origin M-50, which is the latest ship released for the game and an agile racer. Tracy revealed that the M-50's incredibly realistic details are displayed thanks to twelve 4096 x 4096 textures layered on top of each other, while the model is made by 100,000 polygons. Further details are provided by normal maps which are also 4096 in resolution.

that looks sweet but... how about adding some anti-aliasing there mate? Those jaggies look like stairs on that big screen.

For what purpose is that ship made for ? If it's just space stuff, why bother making it look aerodynamic ?

The m50 is meant for racing.. within the PU there will be race leagues , and these ships are to accommodate this part of the game.

Star citizen isn't just space, the ships need to be capable of atmospheric flight
