Solidigm has recently unveiled the D5-P5336, an advanced solid-state drive (SSD) equipped with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and high storage capacity.

Designed to service applications reliant on ultra-high-density read-intensive storage, the SSD stands out for its potential applications in AI edge inference and content delivery. The D5-P5336 SSD series exhibits a high-performance level, achieved through the use of SK Hynix's 3D QLC NAND memory technology and a proprietary platform. These components contribute to the SSD's impressive endurance and significant storage capabilities. The SSD can reach sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s, sequential write speeds peaking at 3,300 MB/s, and random read/write speeds up to 1.005 million/38K 4K IOPS, while offering a storage capacity of up to 61.44TB.

A standout feature of the D5-P5336 SSD is its high endurance, with the ability to write up to 65 PBW (Petabytes Written) for the top capacity drives. This endurance is comparable to high-capacity drives using 3D TLC NAND, situating the D5-P5336 as a competitive offering in both performance and storage capacity.

The D5-P5336 SSD series will be available in three form factors: U.2/U3 15mm, E3.S 7.5mm, and E1.L 9.5mm, and offers capacity options ranging from 7.68TB to 61.44TB. The 61.44TB capacity will specifically be made available in the U.2/U.3 and E1.L drive form factors. This SSD series is particularly suitable for applications necessitating high-density storage, such as AI, machine learning, and object storage. The use of 3D QLC technology, coupled with its high capacity and significant performance levels, makes the D5-P5336 SSD a fitting choice for emerging applications. The currently available product features an E1.L form factor and is available in two models with capacities of 15.36TB and 30.72TB. In 2023, a high-capacity model of 61.44TB with a U.2/E1.L form factor is scheduled for release, followed by the E3 model in the first half of 2024. The SSD utilizes a PCI Express 4.0 (x4) bus interface, offering impressive sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3,300 MB/s. Additionally, it boasts excellent random read performance of up to 1,005,000 IOPS and random write performance of up to 41,000 IOPS. The latency for random reads is approximately 15 μs, while random writes have a latency of 25 μs. For sequential reads, the latency is around 110 μs, and for sequential writes, it is 15 μs.

The SSD is designed for durability, with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 2 million hours, providing peace of mind to users. The product is backed by a 5-year warranty. The total write capacity is rated at 14.11PBW for the 15.36TB model and 31.5PBW for the 30.72TB model. These specifications make it suitable for various high-performance storage applications.
