Honestly for what it is, that's a pretty good price. I remember back when SSDs used to cost $1/GB. That was only about 10 years ago.

Why can't you , while I don't know of many boards that took a U.2 interface the ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 had one, so there might be one around out there now that does, I haven't looked at HEDT kit in a while, as far as I know however U.2 is a more business oriented interface.
