Silicon Technology (NasdaqGS: SIMO), a prominent global player in NAND flash memory control chips, has announced its participation in FMS 2023 (Flash Memory Summit 2023).

Enterprise-Level PCIe Gen5 SSD Development Platform

One of the highlights is the MonTitan™ PCIe Gen5 Enterprise SSD Development Platform. This platform incorporates the SM8366 PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe SSD controller chip, meticulously crafted for the demanding requirements of enterprises and data centers. This controller chip, equipped with 16 NAND channels, can accommodate up to 2400MT/s TLC and QLC NAND, delivering remarkable sequential read and write performance (14GB/s) as well as random read and write performance (3 million IOPS). The MonTitan™ platform showcases cutting-edge features, including:

  • Industry-first PCIe Gen5 ZNS SSD (Zoned Namespace SSD), tailored for QLC NAND, achieving high-performance, high-capacity SSDs while optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) and enhancing sequential storage QoS.
  • Adoption of PerformaShape™ technology, which offers four user-defined QoS settings to optimize performance, power consumption, and latency in multi-tenant environments.
  • Demonstration of the OCP 2.0 NVMe Gen5 data center E1.S SSD, catering to compute-intensive applications requiring performance scalability and superior QoS.

The MonTitan SSD development platform will be exhibited on servers supporting traditional U.2 and EDSFF SSDs, including AIC's EB202-CP, Pegatron's Luigi, and ASUS's ESR-511-X4TF.

World's First Automotive-Grade PCIe Gen4 SSD Controller Chip

Silicon Motion introduces the SM2264XT-AT, a groundbreaking automotive-grade PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD controller chip. Tailored to support emerging automotive centralized computing and ADAS/autonomous driving architectures, this chip embodies excellent performance and reliability. Features include a quad-core ARM R8® CPU, four PCIe 16Gb/s data buses, built-in SR-IOV function, and the ability to support up to 8 virtual machines (VMs), aptly suited for future automotive storage architectures.

Upcoming Consumer SM2508 PCIe Gen5 SSD Controller Chip

The upcoming SM2508 is a double-optimized PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe 2.0 SSD controller chip designed for laptops and desktops that prioritize performance and power efficiency. With support for 8 NAND channels, each boasting speeds of up to 3600 MT/s, this chip delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 14GB/s and random read and write speeds of 2.5 million IOPS. Boasting ultra-low power consumption of ~3.5W, the SM2508 unleashes the potential of PCIe Gen5 performance, catering to a wider range of notebook applications.

Attendees are invited to explore these groundbreaking advancements at booth 315 during the event. Additionally, Silicon Motion will deliver a presentation at the Flash Memory Summit forum. For further details, please visit: https://www.siliconmotion.com/events/2023FMS/
