Synology has unveiled its latest offerings, the DiskStation DS224+ and DS124, expanding the suite of data solutions designed for professionals, small teams, and edge deployments.

Driven by the versatile Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, these storage devices provide a comprehensive toolkit for safeguarding and managing vital data, remote file access, and physical property monitoring, all housed within a compact desktop design.

The DS224+ and DS124 bring forth intuitive file management and sharing capabilities through Synology Drive, a private cloud solution that seamlessly blends cross-platform access with advanced privacy controls. This empowers professionals across various sectors to boost productivity by operating from any location and benefiting from streamlined centralized data management.

Enhanced Data Backup Strategies for Uninterrupted Operations

Synology's latest offerings present a plethora of options for data backup. Users can utilize these devices to perform continuous or manual backups of workstations, laptops, and mobile devices. Furthermore, they can adhere to user-defined backup schedules on both Windows and macOS systems.

For heightened data protection, users can generate backups of folders, system settings, and software packages stored on their Synology devices. These backups can be stored in the cloud, on secondary Synology systems, and on external devices. Additionally, users have the ability to create point-in-time snapshots of their device's data for swift restoration, with the option to store these snapshots locally or remotely.

Private Video Surveillance Management

The Synology Surveillance Station video management system (VMS), compatible with over 8,300 validated IP cameras and ONVIF devices, transforms the DS224+ and DS124 into robust surveillance management and recording platforms. Users can swiftly configure and manage cameras via a highly adaptable interface, simplifying encryption, backup, and archival of recordings.

Enabling dual recording in Synology C2 Surveillance facilitates cloud-based storage of footage, bolstering remote access and serving as an additional backup. End-to-end encryption safeguards streams from unauthorized access, and low-latency recording guarantees footage capture right up to the moment before a camera stream becomes unavailable.

DS224+: Edge Deployments for Collaborative Teams

Engineered as a versatile edge deployment solution for small to mid-sized teams, the DS224+ offers either one drive of data redundancy in a RAID setup or two drive bays for storage. Supporting multi-site data synchronization, the DS224+ accommodates various methods suitable for diverse global deployments, ranging from system-to-system syncing solutions to hybrid storage and public cloud services.

Michael Wang, Product Manager at Synology Inc., stated, "The DS224+ is an ideal choice for teams and branch offices seeking synchronization with their central office. Its out-of-the-box support for a range of synchronization features makes it adaptable to nearly any existing deployment."

DS124: Efficient Workflows for Professionals

Designed to enhance productivity for small business owners and professionals, the DS124 streamlines data consolidation. Whether in-office or on-the-go, mobile apps like Synology Photos and Synology Drive facilitate seamless backups and file synchronization. On-demand syncing empowers users to offload locally-stored data to the DS124, minimizing the need for costly storage upgrades on laptops and workstations.

Julien Chen, Product Manager at Synology Inc., noted, "With its compact desktop form factor and low power consumption, the DS124 is especially well-suited for entrepreneurs, business owners, and freelance creative professionals. It empowers them to optimize workflows and accomplish more with minimal overhead."
