Samsung has surplus OLED screens due to disappointing iPhone X sales

It's a bit of a paradox when you think about it, but Samsung has a surplus of OLED displays, because sales of the iPhone X are not at the level they should be.

Samsung produces multiple components used by competitor Apple, including the OLED screen in the new iPhone X. According to Nikkei, Apple pays around $ 100 (80 euros) for every OLED display.

According to earlier rumors, Apple would have reduced the production of the iPhone X in the current quarter, because demand is lower than expected. Samsung would have counted on a greater success, as a result of which the company now has screens left. The Korean company tries to sell the displays to other smartphone makers, many parties however have not yet made the switch. Instead, they use traditional LCD screens.

Apple has not confirmed the alleged production reduction of the iPhone X to date. The tech giant hardly ever reacts to rumors. From recent quarterly figures showed that Apple in recent months has sold fewer iPhones than a year ago period. Despite the fact that the manufacturer was able to book a turnover record, this is partly due to the higher sales price of the iPhone X.
