E3 2017: Metro: Exodus Revealed

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.

Flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in the greatest Metro adventure yet. Explore the Russian wilderness in vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

Like previous games, players will be holding out with the last survivors living in the tunnels of the Metro of ruined Moscow. But, you can’t stay cooped up in the tunnels forever. As Artyom, players will lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an “continent-spanning journey” across the post-apocalyptic Russia landscape. Your goal? To search for a new life in the East. Players will have to content with the vast, non-linear Russian landscape spanning and entire year of seasons, all the way through to a nuclear winter. Metro Exodus was shown off on Xbox One X in 4K, in what seems to be in-engine gameplay. Metro Exodus is launching in 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One .

Sounds amazing. Personally am a big fan of books. Besides Two main books - Metro 2033 / 2034, there is a whole span of various other novels written in same universe and approved by author. A very nice reading, which covers various countries.

This makes me happy to see that that they finally went out of Moscow and plan to explore the world. From this point various games can be brought up to us, which operate in same universe, however different characters and locations.

Lore is flexible, and so is the universe. Would be happy to see future sequels not only from perspective of Artyom, but as well hopefully other characters.

There is one book I really liked from English author which takes place in post nuclear UK, quite the reading. London was devastated but not it's underground, and the environment that people live in is horrid.
But won't spoil the story for you, read it yourself. :)

Anyways, looking forward to this game!

Did you forgot about 2035 ? ;) I have read the whole trilogy and some spinof stories, so far all are great.

Exodus looks like the end of 2035 or what's happen later, awaiting for it impatiently ...

Yes and the 2035, forgot it for some reason.

Indeed it does, however Games so far while "following" the books, don't really follow them too closely. There are many differences, and I don't blame the game authors as the path they follow is better suited for game itself.

I like the idea of it being more "open worldy" since the first two were pretty much "follow the line" run-throughs.

It could be the next "Stalker-like" if its very open worldy, with weapon/armour mods etc...
Looking forward to it. :)
