LG Releases 27" 27UK850-W IPS HDR UHD 4K Monitor

LG Releases 27

LG Electronics introduced a new 27 inch IPS liquid crystal display at 27", the UK850-W with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The display supports HDR10 and comes fitted with a USB Type-C port compliant DisplayPort Alternate Mode.

That USB Type-C ports allow 4K video display, data transfer, and laptop/mobile device charging, all at the same time over a single cable. Reduce cord clutter and increase efficiency with USB Type-C.The 60 Hz screen comes with AMD's technology "FreeSync" and has its own unique "Black Stabilizer" that enhances the visibility of dark areas and has 99% coverage of the sRGB spectrum.

A gray-to-gray response time is reported at 5ms, brightness is 350 cd/m2 (which is way too low for proper HDR and probably why this is marketed as 'HDR effect') , and viewing angles of 178 degrees up, down, left and right. The interface includes HDMI × 2, DisplayPort × 1, USB Type-C × 1, USB 3.1 Gen.1 hub × 2, Type-C connector can supply 60 W power.

The specs below are translated (mind the Chinglish):

  • Panel: 27 inches, IPS method, non glare (non-gloss)
  • Backlight: LED
  • Panel resolution / Maximum vertical refresh rate: 3840 × 2160 dots / 61 Hz
  • HDR compatible: HDR 10
  • Brightness (normal): 350 cd / m 2
  • Display color: Approximately 1,070 million colors
  • Contrast ratio: 1000: 1
  • Viewing angle: 178 degrees left and right, 178 degrees up and down
  • Halftone response speed: 5 ms
  • Connection interface: DisplayPort input (version undisclosed) × 1, HDMI input (undisclosed) × 2, USB Type-C (unpublished version) × 1, 3.5 mm minipin headphone output × 1
  • Tilt (vertical rotation): Corresponding (-5 to + 15 degrees)
  • Swivel (left and right turn): Not supported
  • Pivot (vertical rotation): correspondence
  • Height adjustment: 110 mm above and below
  • Power consumption: 50 W (maximum time), 32 W (standard), 0.5 W or less (standby)
  • Size: 613 (W) × 234 (D) × 560 to 670 (H) mm
  • Weight: 6.1 kg
  • Warranty period: 3 years

The monitor will cost 699 USD.

Shame to see they removed the VESA mounting option, I have my current 4k LG 27" mounted on a very smooth gas strut arm and it is so much more versatile. Even a well designed stand cannot come close.

Thanks for that, you are spot on.

I was going by the picture of the rear of the screen in HH's article which appeared to show a fully molded back with no such option.
Turns out that in LG's higher quality pictures you can see there is a very close fitting plastic form that hides the VESA mounting option quite cleanly.

Very nice :)
