Tech data miner Tum Apisak, who operates on the social media platform Twitter, discovered some interesting Geekbench results on Tuesday. Apisak discovered a new entry in the Geekbench databases for a test system that appears to be equipped with a low-end Intel DG2 graphics card – based on a Xe-HPG GPU with 128EUs – and a low-end Intel Core processor.
It is clear from the Geekbench online database entry that the key system components of the tested machine are an Intel Core i5-11400T (RKL) CPU on an Asus TUF Gaming B560M-Plus motherboard with 16GB of DDR4 in single channel mode, as well as an Asus TUF Gaming B560M-Plus motherboard with 16GB of DDR4 in dual channel mode. Meanwhile, an Intel Xe GPU with 128 EUs is in charge of the graphics, which runs at a snappy 2.2GHz and is accompanied by 4.67GB of VRAM.
The clock speed achieved by the Xe-HPG GPU is probably the most interesting aspect of this case study. It is 40 percent faster than the previous generation (DG1) cards could muster in terms of performance. Furthermore, the increase from 96 to 128EUs will almost certainly pay off. On Apiksak's Twitter account, someone expressed disappointment with the Geekbench results, which were in the range of what you might expect an AMD RX550 to achieve. Apisak, on the other hand, responded by digging up even older 'Xe 128 EU' results, which appeared to be in line with Nvidia's entry-level but difficult to come by GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card.
Using a different Twitter source, VideoCardz discovered the same Geekbench results and predicts that this Intel GPU will be the "smallest GPU from the DG2 family, which also includes 384EU and 512EU variants." In terms of performance, the entry-level DG2 will be compared to products such as the Nvidia MX400 series and AMD iGPUs on Cezanne APUs – which is probably fair considering the DG2 is a more modern design with a maximum power consumption of 35W or less. In general, previous leaks that we have reported on depict the Xe-HPG graphics card with 512EUs as a competitor to the GeForce RTX 3070.
