Intel DG2 GPU sighted with 6GB and 8GB GDDR6 memory
You'd almost forget that with the NVIDIA and AMD onslaught in pending graphics cards releases, that intel is working on GPUs with Xe as well.
A new rumor surfaced today as an Intel DG2 got listed with 8GB GDDR6 memory on a specs sheet for an undefined device. This could be a high-end mobile device or something for a gaming notebook. Yesterday there was some news about Tiger-Lake-H processors (45W mobile CPUs) with up-to 8-cores; this latest news seems a match. Spotted is an 8GB variant of DG2, this could hold 512 EUs featuring a 256-bit memory interface.
As Vieocardz has reported, DG2 can launch in at least three variants: 384, 512, and possibly a 960 EU version, each ER holds eight ALUs (cores). A PCB diagram of the DG2 384EU variant has been sent to them as well. Here, 6 GDDR6 chips are observed in the diagram, thus leading towards a memory density of 6 GB. This model of DG2 has 6 GDDR6 memory modules, indicating a 192-bit memory interface.

As usual, if it's priced right it will find a place in the market, even if underwhelming by enthusiast standards.

What are the performance estimates for these? Can they actually beat 3 years old 1060 and rx580?

no they will not maybe, but still people will take those if they have an higher feature profile or they are cheaper, or the just get in oems.

if it has 6-8 gigs of ram , i bet they are aiming for 1060 performace , which is most popular GPU right now. Still manages to play all games at 1080p with high perf ....

Seems rather underwhelming on paper, but, this is just the first iteration so I'm willing to wait and see. Perhaps Intel is prioritizing performance-per-watt.
