Intel's forthcoming Raptor Lake Refresh processors continue to intrigue hardware enthusiasts. Although information remains scarce, recent revelations on the new line's dates and specifics have been expected.

The processors are reported to retain compatibility with existing motherboards designed for Intel's 600 and 700 series chipsets, with several manufacturers having already introduced BIOS updates for this purpose.

The Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh K models are projected to launch in mid-October 2023. Conversely, variants without the K label are predicted to enter the market in the first week of 2024, aligning with CES 2024.

Intel Raptor Lake Refresh Specifications:

  • Architecture similar to Raptor Lake (Raptor Cove P-Cores + Gracemont E-Cores)
  • Fabrication process equivalent to Raptor Lake (Intel 7, or 10nm++)
  • Enhanced frequencies exceeding 6 GHz
  • DDR5 memory module support
  • Increased power consumption nearing 300W
  • Compatible with existing LGA 1700/1800 socket motherboards

Additionally, the Intel Arrow Lake-S processors are expected to be released in late 2024 or early 2025. The development of three 800-series chipsets featuring the LGA 1851 socket is also underway. The chipsets in development include the Z890, B860, and H810, and rumors suggest the possibility of the W880 and Q870 chipsets aimed at workstations. Despite the H870 chipset being absent from current listings, past trends imply it may be included in future releases.

Details on Intel's 800 series of chipsets are still sparse. However, it is known that the primary chipset will offer 60 HSIO (High-Speed Input/Output) channels (24 CPU + 34 PCH). The B860 and H810 platforms are set to provide 44 and 32 HSIO channels, respectively. These chipsets will inherently support up to 48GB DDR-5-6400 modules and ensure compatibility with WiFi 7 and 5GbE.

HSIO channels, integral to a motherboard, manage high-speed connections such as PCIe, USB, SATA ports, and more, facilitating swift data transmission between the processor and connected devices.

Intel has scheduled an event, "Intel Innovation," for September 19. The company is anticipated to clarify rumors regarding future processors at this event
