Gigabyte G1-Killer motherboard specs surface
A handful, and really its all that, of specification surfaced on the web regarding Gigabyte's G1-Killer motherboard:
- X58 chipset and support LGA1366 CPUs
- Special designed - Locked and Loaded Heatpipes.
- 6x DIMM, 24GB DDR3 Memory
- Onboard Creative X-Fi 20K2 Audio Processor
- Onboard Bigfoot Networks Killer E2100 network processor with 1GB DDR2 memory.
- Nighicon high-end audio capacitors
An imposing feature of the board is its southbridge heatsink that is shaped to look like a 5.56 ammo magazine, a round sticking out of it for a more impressive look. In addition, eight SATA ports are also visible (six 3 Gb/s and two 6 Gb/s) as well as dual BIOS chips, a feature that is pretty common on Gigabyte motherboards.
The southbridge is connected together to a much larger heatsink via a small heatpipe. The audio solutions jumps out as well as that Bigfoot Killer E2100 with 1 GB memory (!), I just wonder what that last option is going to add in overall pricing. Ah well, we'll see.
G1-Killer range is going to be unveiled at CES 2011, prices starting at US $299.
