GeForce RTX 3070 Availability Moved to October 29th

NVIDIA just issues a statement on their website postponing the availability of the GeForce RTX 3070, the new availability date is now set at Thursday, October 29th. An included perf chart shows perf above GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card has 5888 Shading cores running at a 1.5 GHz base and boost frequency of 1.73 GHz. it makes use of conventional GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus with a bandwidth of 448 GB/s. The GPU features a TDP of 220 W and is priced  $499.

NVIDIA; Production of GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards are ramping quickly. We’ve heard from many of you that there should be more cards available on launch day. To help make that happen, we are updating the availability date to Thursday, October 29th.

We know this may be disappointing to those eager to purchase a GeForce RTX 3070 as soon as possible, however this shift will help our global partners get more graphics cards into the hands of gamers on launch day.

The GeForce RTX 3070 delivers incredible performance and features, including NVIDIA Reflex and Broadcast, for $499. Across a variety of ray-traced and rasterized DirectX and Vulkan titles, the GeForce RTX 3070 delivers similar or faster performance than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (which sold for twice the price) and is on average 60% faster than the original GeForce RTX 2070.

Questionable choice. Thats right after amd unveil the navi cards so nvidia could loose many sales if it turns out good.

Maybe the card do not meet the expectations and need more polish.

Well this sucks, it sucks badly. Now i get to game on my Gtx 970 even longer :( .If i wont be able to get a 3070 on that date, then i will definitely go AMD.

This could be a blessing in disguise because we don't need another fiasco like we saw with the 3080s and 3090s and this could add another coat of polish so to speak.

I'm sure this is mostly to do with Nvidia ensuring stability, since this product is probably going to sell better than the 3080 and therefore Nvidia (or really their partners) needs to make sure they're not overwhelmed with returns.
It's possible they're holding it off while they wait for AMD but the product is pretty much already made, so, unless they somehow manage to boost the clock speeds and maintain stability through a driver update, it's not like they can use the 3070 as a response.
