Elon Musk has shifted his focus to Apple's App Store, claiming that Epic Games is correct and Apple is  "de facto a global tax on the Internet."

Shortly after news surfaced alleging Musk wanted to be Apple's CEO and Cook denying that, Musk responded with a series of tweets rejecting the claim and stressing that he and Cook had never talked or sent an email. Musk stated that "Apple's app store fees constitute a de facto worldwide tax on the Internet" as one of the reasons he believes "Epic is right."

Epic Games filed a complaint against Apple for the way it operates the App Store, which does not allow in-app app shops or alternate methods of taking money for digital items, requiring creators to pay a 15th commission. Apple gets 30%.

Musk's remarks are consistent with Epic's position that iOS has become a "must have." Apple, on the other hand, refuted that assertion, claiming that Epic's blockbuster game Fortnite accounted for only 10% of the company's overall income. Apple also claims that if customers are dissatisfied with iOS and the App Store, they may switch to Android or another platform.

The verdict in the Epic vs. Apple litigation in the United States has yet to be determined, but we recently discovered that the Epic vs. Apple trial in Australia has resumed after a brief pause.
