Asus ROG Swift PG27AQ has a 4k IPS Panel with G-sync
Asus have announced a follow up ROG Swift branded screen tagged under SKU code PG27AQ. While the looks remains the same as the old model, this monitor is based on a 27" sized IPS-type panel, Ultra HD 3840 x 2160. It supports up to 60Hz refresh rate but still offers support for NVIDIA G-sync, which is a great feature to have in that resolution where FPS is scarce.
Even though the maximum refresh rate is lower, this could still be very useful for gamers given the demands of running a 4k resolution at 60Hz normally. The screen will not support 'Adaptive-sync' for AMD FreeSync.
A lot of you have been waiting for a higher resolution version of our current ROG SWIFT the PG278Q. We have been hard at work designing and developing a monitor to meet the needs and wants of the ultra high resolution gaming enthusiast. After spending sometime with the PG27AQ I think display enthusiasts are going to be pretty excited about this new addition to the ROG line of monitors.
ROG SWIFT PG27AQ 4K G-SYNC IPS Gaming Monitor
- Panel size: 27 inches
- Resolution: 3840 x 2160
- Panel type: In-plane switching ( IPS )
- Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
- Brightness: 300 cd/m²
- Back light: LED based
In addition the new SWIFT PG27AQ includes an easy-to-navigate on-screen display (OSD) with a five-way navigation joystick and hotkey shortcuts, an ergonomic design with full tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment, and a smart cable-management system in a super narrow bezel design. Other gaming features like their 'game mode' presets and 'Black eQualizer' return, and there is now also an ‘Auto Game Mode’ setting which intelligently detects the genre of game you’re playing and adjusts to an ‘appropriate’ game mode setting (FPS, RTS etc). In other specs the screen offers 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and a standard gamut sRGB coverage from its W-LED backlight. A single DisplayPort 1.2 connection is provided which is required to offer G-sync support. Given that the maximum refresh rate is 60Hz on this model it is unlikely that the PG27AQ will offer support for Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) or NVIDIA 3D Vision since those really require higher refresh rates to operate.
No word on price or availability yet. With the long delays surrounding the ROG Swift PG278Q launch we expect it to be a few months away.

Nope, try again Asus. Not interested in 4K until it can run at 120/144hz with G-sync

Can you at least try to leave a productive comment? You almost sound like a child wanting something he can't use or need. Lets say they do give you this magical 144hz IPS monitor with G-sync along with a unicorn shooting lasers and pooping rainbows, do you then intend on spending $10k on a build that just might hit the max potential of that monitor? I think not. Think before typing stuff up.
