AMD Radeon VII Unboxing (a bit of a photo appetizer)

In merely a few days AMD will officially release their new Radeon VII. Today youtubers can already do a bit of unboxing, and as such, I wanted to show you a few photos of the new Radeon flagship consumer graphics card as well.

The photos that you see below of packaging, are of course NOT the packaging you'll find in stores. AMD has sent out really nice media kits including an acrylic stand on which you can position the card, for a bit of display nirvana. What's interesting is that AMD also included a dummy VEGA20 GPU. There are non-functional GPUs that have likely failed in the fabrication process. That, however, does bring a nice close-up view of that GPU.

We talked about Vega 20 many times, it is the 7nm Vega iteration of the existing GPU. The GPU is paired with 16GB of HBM memory and can Boost towards the 1800 MHz ranges. Interesting to see is that the card PCB is quite long as the cooler is based on triple fans. AMD expects a 25% performance uplift out of the product with the same amount of power (VEGA10). In some slides, it's shown that the card performs at a GeForce RTX 2080 performance level.

Radeon VII is set to be released later this week at a price of 699 USD. The card is based on 7nm production of the Vega GPU, but now is paired with four 4GB HBM2 graphics memory packages. Click the photos below to check out the product and GPU, all photos shown are taken in-house at Guru3D.com
