AMD has announced the integration of its AMD EPYC Embedded Series processors into Hewlett Packard Enterprise's latest storage solution, HPE Alletra Storage MP.

The AMD EPYC Embedded processors deliver the necessary performance and energy efficiency for enterprise-grade storage systems, offering high availability, resilience, industry-leading connectivity, and long-term support.

HPE Alletra Storage MP enables a disaggregated infrastructure, allowing multiple storage protocols to run on the same hardware independently, catering to varying performance and capacity requirements. Supporting both block and file stores, HPE Alletra Storage MP empowers customers to effortlessly deploy, manage, and orchestrate data and storage services through the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform, regardless of workload or storage protocol. This eliminates data silos, streamlining costs and complexity while enhancing performance.

Building upon HPE Alletra MP, HPE GreenLake for File Storage provides a scale-out file service that accelerates the processing of data-intensive workloads. It delivers enterprise-level performance at scale, achieving read throughput of hundreds of gigabytes per second and beyond.

Furthermore, HPE GreenLake for Block Storage has expanded to offer mission-critical resiliency at midrange economics, boasting the industry's first disaggregated, scale-out block storage with a 100% data availability guarantee. Managed and delivered through the HPE GreenLake platform, the new HPE GreenLake for Block Storage utilizes HPE Alletra Storage MP, delivering an intuitive cloud experience, efficient scalability, extreme resiliency, and outstanding performance for mission-critical applications and mixed workloads.

Patrick Osborne, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Data Infrastructure at HPE Storage, stated, "As data continues to grow in volume and complexity, our customers face new challenges in effectively storing, managing, and protecting their data. The new HPE Alletra Storage MP, powered by AMD EPYC Series processors, enables us to offer customers better price-for-performance today and the ability to cost-effectively scale their infrastructure in the future."

The EPYC Embedded Series processors from AMD combine speed and efficiency, effectively reducing overall system energy costs and total cost of ownership (TCO). HPE Alletra Storage MP utilizes various models of EPYC Embedded processors, offering performance options ranging from 16 to 64 cores and a thermal design power profile spanning from 155 W to 225 W.

Rajneesh Gaur, Corporate Vice President, and General Manager of the Embedded Processor Group at AMD expressed, "We are excited about our expanded collaboration with HPE to provide enterprise customers with advanced solutions that drive better business outcomes at an accelerated pace. The Embedded EPYC processors enable HPE to usher in a new era of storage, offering unparalleled performance and I/O agility within a power-optimized framework."
