Acer releases Predator XR342CKP monitor at 100Hz and FreeSync

Acer is to bring the Predator XR342CKP to the market, in fact already has done so silently. The unit is an update of the Predator XR342CK  and provides a 100Hz native refresh rate (75Hz on the old model).

The XR Series monitors combine the latest color technology and performance with a gaming style design. The specs are online with the previous P model including an ultra wide panel at a 3440x1440 resolution (IPS panel). The monitor supports AMD FreeSync for variable refresh rates, a contrast ratio of 1000: 1, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 172/178 viewing angles, 1.07b color depth, and the standard sRGB color gamut. The listed 100 Hz is tagged as overclocked frequency.

The XR342CKP is on the Acer website with a suggested retail price of 1799 USD.

Update: we think 1799,- is an error listed on the ACER website, and expect it to be 799 USD as that is what the monitor can be found for in retail.

So its not 4k and its not 120hz. So why the hell do they think they can charge that much for a 2017 spec, bog standard monitor?

The LG 34GK950F has much better specs and is cheaper. What is Acer thinking?

Probably just a typo and $799 instead. Considering the price of X34 there is no way this FreeSync version is $1799.
