Introduction

Abkoncore Helios 500G Sync review
A bit of Helios (Sun) for the gamers? ?

This time, we’re checking out the Abkoncore Helios 500G Sync, an RGB mid-tower PC chassis. It's a product from a western market branch of Abko, a Korean-based computer hardware and peripherals company established already almost 20 years ago (in 2001). The company behind it all as well is Spire which you know from X2. But let's get back to the presentation of the review item. Don’t be fooled. It doesn’t have anything to do with Nvidia’s G-Sync technology. It’s simply called the Sync edition because it allows synchronizing RGB lighting via the motherboard. The LED lights can be controlled with wireless remote control. With two 200 mm fans in the front and a 120 mm fan in the back, you should not have to worry about overheating. The front has quite a lot of mesh in it (not just tempered glass), so this should also help. If you prefer, you can choose a full-mesh front version called the H600X Sync (which is almost exactly the same, with only minor changes).

The dimensions are rather modest for a mid-tower, as they’re 225 x 375 x 450mm (WxDxH). That’s 39.76 l in total, so it’s quite low and compact.
The case supports Mini ITX / Micro ATX / ATX motherboards. The weight is 8.3 kg, as there are two tempered glass panels. According to the specs, you can fit up to four 2.5”/two 3.5” drives inside. On the front, you will find the following ports:

  • USB3.0 x2,
  • USB2.0 x2,
  • HD audio terminals

The expansion slot has a 7 + 2 design. The Abkoncore Helios 500G Sync provides many cooling options, with support for radiators up to 360 mm at the front, 240 mm at the top and 140 mm at the back. It’s possible to mount up to 2 x 200 mm/ 2 x 140 mm/ 3 x 120 mm fans at the front, 2x 120 mm or 140 mm fans at the top, and 1x 120/140 mm fan at the back. In the bundle, you get two 200 mm fans at the front and a 120 mm fan at the back, so it’s a rather good setup initially. Speaking of fans, you can’t miss the fan filters, right? You can find a magnet type one on the top and a removable one at the bottom. As for CPU air coolers, the max height is 178 mm (all available products should fit), and GPUs up to 355 mm in length. The PSU shouldn’t be longer than 195-220 mm (and that’s a lot). There are no other colour variants of this chassis. It’s like the Ford T: you can choose any colour you wish, as long it’s black. As mentioned earlier, the case is fitted with two tempered glass panels (the left and the front one). The Abkoncore Helios 500G comes with a remote controller for setting up the RGB included (if you prefer it over the motherboard sync systems).

The price is €89.95/$99.95. Let’s check out the specs and features of this chassis, shall we?
