Backward compatibility and Cooler Bundle

Backward compatibility

A topic of discussion has been chipset compatibility. Basically in short, if you have a Series 300 or 400 chipset based AMD motherboard, you should seek for a BIOS/firmware update at your motherboards vendor. Ryzen 3000 processors will (should) work fine, with one distinction, you have reverted back to PCIe Gen 3.0, and that also goes for the x4 interlink between the CPU and chipset. During the Computex AMD has announced the first Ryzen 3000 processors. Ryzen 3600 (X) with six cores and twelve threads, 3700(X) (8t/16t), 3800X (8c/16t) And Ryzen 9 3900X (12c/24t).  And that means silicon with two CPU dies immediately make the market. The IPC, by the way, should be up by almost 15% and even 25%  overall combined with the increase in clock frequency as some Ryzen models will get turbo bins towards 4.6 GHz. Pricing then, historically AMD has been at 40 to 50 USD per core, and that has not changed. When we reverse the situation we see a similar condition, most of the older Ryzen 1000/2000 processors will work fine on X570, just not at PCIe 4.0. By the way guys, at launch, you can choose from 51 motherboards to purchase from all the different brands. The motherboards will start at roughly 200 USD.

Coolers

All Ryzen 7 and 9 will receive an AMD Wraith Prism Cooler (the one with LED lighting). And that brings us to the conclusion of this preview. Of course, at launch day (7th of the 7th) we’ll be serving a full series of reviews on several processors as well as a Radeon RX 5700 review.

Concluding

And that brings us to the conclusion of this preview. We had only hours to write our preview articles, there are bound to be some imperfections in the content, apologies for that. Of course, at launch day (7th of the 7th) we’ll be serving a full series of reviews on several processors as well as a Radeon RX 5700 review.

But not before you have seen this slide ...
