A Sneak preview on Ryzen Threadripper processors
A meet & greet with the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X and 1950X
Soon the AMD Ryzen Threadripper review will go live, however to fill that gap in time AMD has allowed the media to show some photos of the press-kits they have send out. Join us in a sneak preview of what AMD has shipped out. As you guys know, AMD is launching three Threadripper processors. In the first week of the launch the 12-core 1920X and the beast to rule them all, the 16-core 1950X. Double the numbers up as all these procs are SMT and thus hyper-threaded. We already talked about the two announced models. These puppies are fully unlocked and seat themselves onto the new Socket sTR4 (4094 pins!). In this sneak preview we do just that, show your some of the goods that AMD has shipped in towards us for the review next week.
So whenever a company starts to send out stuff in suitcases and dresses up thing, you know the launch is important to them. AMD is going big on the processor, but also that review kit, the important stuff is obviously inside that Pelican iM2620 case.
The first thing that pops out, the suitcase has our logo laser etched on it, nice detail there sure. Oh yeah, there's a Ryzen Threadripper logo on there as well ;)
Once we open up the suitcase we see two Ryzen Threadripper processors in its original retail packaging as well at the bottom a Threadripper chip (non working) with our logo etched in there.
So that suitcase has a little LED strip in there, once you flick the switch some light will turn on giving the Threadripper packaging some extra visual TLC. That really is the eye of Sauron (Mordor) right ? :-)
So yeah, that will be housed onto my desk. AMD included a dummy Threadripper processor package with the Guru3D logo etched in there. Very nice.
There you have that dummy proc number 64 out of 250, now you know how many of these kits have been send out to media and partners. So the procs are the only thing housed inside that dandy suitcase, AMD however delivers a complete kit including:
- Ryzen Threadripper 1950X & 1920X
- Asus X399 Motherboard
- 4 x 8GB G-Skill 3200 14-14-14-34 Memory model number F4-3200C14D-16GTZR
- Thermal Take 1250W Power Supply
- Thermal Take Cooling Solution Water 3.0 Ring AIO P/N CL-W108-PL125W-A
- SamsungEVO Pro nVME SSD Drive
On the next page we'll do some unboxing of the processors and have a look at them up, close and personal.
In this unboxing, we'll be discussing the pending Radeon Series 6800 (XT) that AMD announced. This article is a small teaser based on what AMD has been sharing as well as sharing some photos of the ...
