Final Words & Conclusion

The Mk III series from PC Power & Cooling delivers as promised good stability and comes with a modular design. Next to that the traditional single 12 Volts rail has been preserved and granted, it comes with much improved looks.

As such the product does what it's advertised for. The overall build quality is good, albeit we think it was actually produced by Seasonic after checking the innards and investigating on the the web.

The single thing that didn't sit well with me where the noise levels under load. With power draw under 350~400W Watt the PSU remains silent. Once we stressed it at 500 Watt it started to make quite a lot of noise really, 43~44 DBa coming from the PSU is not what we expected at all, especially when you tag a product with  'Silencer'.

The noise levels aren't dreadful or anything close to that, but it just what I expected.

Efficiency wise the PSU delivers as promised, no remarks there. Mind you that a PSU is the most efficient at 50% load. So we always like to recommend that IF your choice is being greener and more power efficient (which saves money on the electricity bill as well), then we recommend you to calculate your average load, and double that up PSU wise.

Example: if you expect your PC to draw 250 on average in usage, a 500 Watt PSU would be the best alternative really.

Some love yet some frown upon the lack of modular cables. Personally I adore modular cables on power supplies as you get to use the cables that you need. So there's no spaghetti swarm of cabling inside the PSU killing the cool looks. Then again, a lot of people have a closed PC, so you can see that spaghetti of wires either.

Connectors wise there's a decent choice available all of them with decent length. Don't expect luxurious amounts of peripheral connectors though, this is not the price range or that, sufficient is the word I'd use here.

The PSU is covered by a very nice five year warranty (carry-in), so that definitely brings some additional value to to table.

So let me round it up. The Mk III series is a great looking power supply with a modular design. We love the big 12V rails, the exceptional build quality and appreciate the fact that this PSU is very stable as a result of that. We are disenchanted with the noise levels under load though, if you mark a product as Silencer, it should be quiet, period. We don't understand why they didn't use either a bigger or more silent fan.

However if you can life with a bit of noise (under load) then all other factors would definitely outweigh my remark here and the build quality just seems to be top notch. It's a top quality PSU with decent 80+ Bronze efficiency that won't cost you an arm and a leg to purchase, as such it comes recommended.
