Product Showcase

The motherboard follows a standard ATX form factor (30.5 x 24.4cm). The motherboard is located in the Aorus high-end range of the Ryzen desktop processor product stack.

Size ATX
Chipset AMD X370
Memory 4 x DDR4 up to 3200 (OC)
Multi-GPU CrossFireX, 2 x SLI
Expansion PCIe 3.0 x16 (CPU): 2 (x16/x0, x8/x8)
PCIe 2.0 x16 (Chipset): 1 (up to x4)
PCIe 2.0 x1 (Chipset): 3
Storage 2 x M.2 (NVMe x4 or SATA 6Gbps)
6 x SATA 6Gbps
1x U.2 connector
Networking Intel I211AT Gigabit Ethernet
Audio Realtek ALC1220 codecs
USB 2.0 / 3.1: multiple
Onboard Graphics 1 x HDMI port, 1x Displayport

With the X370 board MSI releases a high-end class product, I am not calling it enthusiast as it still lacks certain features. But it has plenty enough features to keep you busy for a while.

T
he Ryzen processor has its own 16 PCIe Gen 3 lanes available for your graphics solution. Ryzen has 24 PCIe 3.0 lanes of them yet 4 are being used to interface with the chipset. Then depending on the chipset used it adds gen 2.0 PCIe lanes through the chipset. The Gaming 5 has been fitted with LED Mystic light, all was kept subtle and can be configured on/off/animated and single (white) colored. The primary graphics slots as well as the DIMM slots have metal shielding.

  • 1 x PS/2 keyboard/ mouse combo port
  • 1 x Clear CMOS button
  • 3 x USB 2.0 Type-A ports
  • 1 x DisplayPort
  • 1 x HDMI 2.0 port
  • 1 x LAN (RJ45) port
  • 4 x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports
  • 1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A port
  • 1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port
  • 5 x OFC audio jacks
  • 1 x Optical S/PDIF OUT connector
The I/O back panel reveals 3.1/2.0 ports. The audio unit has special noise reducing capacitors and shielding on top of that Realtek 1220 chip. You will spot one Intel 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet jack. Included is a PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port. Included are optical S/PDIF out port and five gold plated audio jacks. Included with the motherboard are the regulars including; manuals, driver CDs, SATA cables and a rear I/O plate. What this motherboard misses however is WIFI, a bit of a miss if you ask me.

The board has 3 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots which can be arranged in these slot configurations with graphics cards:

  • 1-way mode - x16 / x0 / x0
  • 2-way mode - x8 / x8 / x0
  • 3-way mode - x8 / x8 / x4

As you can see, the primary two x16 slots are PCI Express Gen 3.0 configurations, that's plenty for regular graphics card setups up-to 2-way SLI/Crossfire. The motherboard comes with an 8-pin power connector. You'll get four DIMM slots that can be used for up-to 64GB of dual-channel memory. Up-to 3200 MHz supported in OC mode. Please do check compatible Memory and thus the QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
