The Radeon RX 6800, 6800 XT, 6900 XT, and 6950 XT all include 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, the latter one now operates at 18 Gbps (effective data rate).. The cooling system is built around a large cooler that houses three fans. The cards all include HDMI 2.1 connections and the most recent DisplayPort generation. This card will retain three 8-pin headers; configuration is determined by AIC/AIB selections since partner cards are allowed to utilize whatever they consider appropriate. The card features a sleek housing concealing the beefy cooler. While the design incorporates certain luxury elements, such as the TRI FROZR cooler series, the fans are an upgraded TORX FAN v4.0 design. It weighs almost 2 kg, which is quite a bit. MSI's current RDNA2 card portfolio includes the basic reference version, Gaming Trio, and Gaming X Trio. I'd anticipate a SUPRIM version and possibly lower-priced "Mech" variants in the future as well.
The Tri Frozr 2 heatsink and three Torx 4.0 fans are used in our MSI RX 6950 XT Gaming X Trio. The fans employ ball bearings to reduce noise and have a longer lifespan. The new fan blades come in pairs, two tied together by a linked outer ring, which MSI claims concentrates airflow into the heatsink. The RX 6950 XT GXT also has Zero Frozr technology, which keeps the fans turned off until cooling is required, making it quiet at low temperatures.
MSI has also installed additional heatsinks behind the cooler for the power supply system, which generates a lot of heat while under stress. These are passive heatsinks that use the airflow rather than making direct contact with the cooler. In our testing, the RX 6950 XT Gaming X Trio reached 75°C under load at stock speeds while remaining silent.
