SSD Performance Linear and Random READ and WRITE
SSD Performance Linear and Random READ and WRITE
So this is a new test I recently introduced. Linear and random read/write performance. On this page I feel is the best of all the tests we are showing you in this review. In the screenshot above you can observe a nearly scientifically precise measurement of linear read performance.
Try to imagine reading/copying a HUGE DVD. As you can see, the performance is flabbergasting. We top out at 250 MB/sec, and I don't know about you guys .. but that flat line looks suspiciously close to a flat bottleneck line.
This might actually be the SATA 2 controller from the Intel X58 chipset maxing out. We are so freakishly close to SATA2 limitations.
Once we start to read and copy files from the SSD in a random fashion we expected slightly less performance. It's still horribly good though, hitting a maximum of 265 MB/sec (!) and 242 MB/sec on average .. that's right, I said average.
Now here's the part where we normally include linear and random write results as well. But our test software crashes unfortunately. We're still investigating if this is a result of a recent software upgrade.
Sorreeeh. Next page we'll continue with another benchmark.
