Final Words & Conclusion

Final words and conclusion

It's obvious that the GeForce GTX 570 was released to replace the EOL GeForce GTX 480. Price performance wise the two products match each other in overall performance. The one wins here the other there, overall they are quite close to each other.

So why would you go for a GTX 570 if you can find a GTX 480 cheaper you might wonder ? We'll there are several pros' and cons there. We are certain you can spot a GTX 480 as cheap as a GTX 570, but stock won't last long as the production on the GTX 480 has been halted. Now provided that you have good custom cooling we feel you'll gain more overclock performance than the GTX 570 as well.

Regardless of these facts we'd still recommend you to go with a GTX 570 as the power consumption is lower, the noise levels are well under control as well as heat levels. Overall the GTX 570 is the better card, but price performance wise in retail things might look different alright.

Comparing it to its bigger brother we noticed that on average you'll spot a 20% performance differential in-between the GTX 570 and GTX 580. Next to that, there is one other thing you do need to take into account, AMD is about to release their Radeon HD 6900 series graphics cards. Knowing AMD, they will match or surpass performance with an hopefully an aggressive price, and that might bring some more balance and or confusion into the pricing. Though admittedly, the GTX 570 is priced quite fair.

Speaking of AMD, the ATI graphics team at default driver settings applies an image quality optimization which can be seen, though very slightly and in certain conditions. It gives their cards ~8% extra performance. NVIDIA does not apply such a tweak and opts better image quality. We hope to see that move from AMD/ATI soon as well.

Alright, time to round up this review. The GeForce GTX 570 is just a lovely graphics card to play any game to date on. You flick on high image quality settings and can play brilliantly at say 1920x1200 with everything cranked open image quality wise. From that perspective the GTX 570 certainly has a lot to offer.

Though we do not see any groundbreaking new features, the performance level of the DirectX 11 class GeForce GTX 570 will attract a lot of you guys and girls. Now initially we heard that the product would be costing 449 EUR/USD and that made us wonder if the price is not wahaay too steep as we feel 389 EUR would be the price to go. The end-result is even better, as the product is tagged at 349 EUR/USD - and that is just a fair price for a product of the caliber.

Now power consumption might still be a little bit on the high side all other variables are right, heat, noise, performance, features and price. It's definitely a card I 'd like to have in my PC and at 349 EUR comes very much recommended. If you can find one, do not hesitate, we can recommend the card very much.
