EK Classic RGB P240 review

In this review, we take the new Classic RGB Performance series EK liquid cooling kit consisting out of all components needed to assemble and design your own proper liquid cooling loop with added RGB bling on the fans, reservoir and water-block. We will build a system and test this to see if it's any good. You know, in the world of CPU coolers nothing ever stops developing. These days you can select from a hundred different heat-pipe based coolers, where many are shaped, formed and priced the same. The better heat-pipe based coolers are good though. Next in line are LCS systems (liquid cooling) setup followed by the real and proper expensive liquid cooling kits. The entry-level LCS products are affordable, easy to install pre-fab liquid cooling kits. We've seen and tested many of them as Corsair, Asetek, NZXT, Cooler Master and so on all have interesting kits. Today we test a new kit from EK, not an AIO kit but a kit with everything you need to build your own liquid cooling loop. EK released the P240 Classic RGB with a proper price/value ratio in mind.

Within the new series you are going to spot four SKUs;  S240, S360, P240, P360. They vary by radiator size and thickness, as well as number of fans. The rest of the components are shared across all of the kits. EK-Supremacy Classic RGB – high-end, nickel-plated copper CPU water block for modern Intel and AMD processors. It features a classic, market-proven design that will perfectly fit the needs of core enthusiasts and demanding users as well. The tool-less mounting system makes the installation process a breeze even for beginners. For AMD AM4 socket installation, the users will have to perform a mounting bracket swap on the block PRIOR to installing your loop which is included in the kit. EK-CoolStream Classic SE radiators come in S240 and S360 kits. The slim radiators offer good cooling capacity in the up to 30mm thick radiator class. Engineered to operate with EK-Vardar 120mm high static pressure fans, these radiators are optimized for maximum heat dissipation across an entire fan operational range.

Name MSRP (incl. VAT)
EK-Kit Classic RGB S240 279,90€
EK-Kit Classic RGB S360 299,90€
EK-Kit Classic RGB P240 299,90€
EK-Kit Classic RGB P360 329,90€

So in essence what we test today is marketed as a liquid cooling solution for the starters among you and not a factory kit like the  TAFKAP -> Predator series. Inside the box, you'll find everything you need from tubing to radiator, fans, and reservoir/pump, basically all you need to do is pick up some distilled water and spend some time putting it all together.

The kit as we received and as tested would cost you 299 EUR and covers all you need. Sure, that is quite a difference compared to AIO kits but this is the real deal. For this article, we'll simply build a system, step-for-step based upon the P240kit. We'll have a look at the overall design guided with photo's, but obviously also performance tests.
