Cougar Immersa Pro Gaming Headset Review - Box 'n Stuff

So lie,  the box bundle contains a few goodies besides the headphones. let's walk through them, and break them apart :-)

You get a C-Media 6533X1-based sound puck, and a ‘mobile’ adapter. The mobile adapter ensures compatibility with analog output, from the cell phone, external DAC, or a console, at the expense of disabling the RGB LEDs.

The CM6533X1 is a USB 2.0 device, offering 24-bit, 96KHz recording, and playback, and supports the Xear audio stack. It also controls the RGB LEDs. The CM6533X1 has a DAC/ADC component, as well as a headphone amplifier. According to the spec sheet, the DAC has a 95dB signal to noise ratio (SNR), -71dB THD+Noise, and a -60dB channel separation. The ADC, used for the microphone input at 16bit, 48KHz sampling rate, has a dynamic range of 88dB, -83dB THD+Noise, and -80dB of channel separation (which would be good if there was a stereo microphone). Not exactly super-duper audio specs, but not bad for a USB powered device.

Unique to the Immersa Pro is the earcup dials. On the left side, a knurled ring mutes the microphone, and the right side controls the volume. The earcups are a slightly oval shape, to fit over your ear, and are very soft and cushioned. The pads also block out a lot of ambient noise, despite the Immersa Pro being an open back design.
