Final words and conclusion

The KATAR ELITE WIRELESS is an excellent (slightly above) mid-range, simple, and straight-to-the-point gaming mouse. Its design is ambidextrous, and it is optimal for the claw and fingertip grip styles. You can find here six buttons at your disposal. Not too many, but it should be enough in most cases (as long as you’re not a MOBA player or something). You get the new 26K DPI Corsair Marksman optical. It has 1 DPI resolutions steps, 650 IPS tracking, and up to 50G acceleration which performs well. It’s a lightweight mouse (6 g) with excellent battery life (up to 110h, according to Corsair). The battery is a built-in lithium-polymer, rechargeable one.

The wireless receiver can be hidden under the body of the mouse, which is a nice feature for transport. The connection has two options: Bluetooth 4.2 or Corsair’s low-latency Slipstream technology. The sensor responds very well, with no noticeable interpolation or angle snapping. It would be good to have rubberized grips on the sides instead of plastic ones, but still – they serve their purpose well enough. The buttons provide great feedback when pressed and offer an excellent response. You won’t find multiple RGB zones here, with the only available one as a Corsair logo. It can still be adjusted in iCUE software.

Conclusion

For 79.99 USD/79.99 EUR, you get an (above) mid-tier, 26K DPI wireless gaming mouse aimed at players who want functionality over lighting effects (because here you’ll get only the logo lit up). Thanks to its very modest design, it’s a comfortable mouse for daily usage. The battery life is excellent and can go up to 110 hours (using the Bluetooth connection method). The USB receiver can be easily hidden, which is an advantage. Very sparse RGB here (one zone in the DPI button area, but it still can be controlled via iCUE software), but that’s not a drawback. The build quality and ergonomics of the Corsair Katar Elite Wireless are excellent. If you’d like some more, there are other Corsair products. What more could you request? Maybe a rubbery grip on the side? What you get is a complete and agile gaming mouse. That’s an “Approved” award, as it’s a product of very good quality and performance. It should fit the specific needs of most users who don’t crave a lot of RGB or an extraordinary design but want a lightweight (69g) mouse with a perfect-performing sensor - but on the other side, the price increase was too steep comparing to the Pro version.
