Corsair OPX Keys
Mechanical keyboards are gaining a market share of the gaming peripherals market quickly. Mechanical switches give you a more perceptible feel than the rubber membrane used in cheaper keyboards. The performance is good, and the reliability should be outstanding, so what more can you ask for? Aaah, yes – full key rollover (but can you push more than ten buttons at once?) and anti-ghosting. Corsair OPX (used here) is possibly the best choice for first-time buyers, as they’re similar in usage to the Cherry MX Red.
Why’s that? The crucial features are 45 g of actuation force, linear response, and rapid bounce back. Here you also get a 1 mm actuation distance and a total distance of 3.2 mm. If you spend some time using a keyboard like that, you get used to typing faster without bottoming out the keys. Still, some switches work better for writing, e.g., MX Browns or Blues.
There are 150.000 keystrokes given. The keycaps are made from PBT (so not the worse ABS, which is less reliable/resistant), and the per-key RGB backlighting makes it look good. Still, you’ve got the warranty if something breaks, right?
