Performance - dGPU 3DMark Vantage | 3DMark 2013 FireStrike

Please read: On this and the previous page we'll first dig through some older comparison numbers with the GeForce GTX 780 Ti and just the 6950X. We are slowly phasing out the benchmarks shown on these two pages - Later in the article we'll show you updated ones with the new GeForce GTX 1080 result and all 4 new processors.

3DMark Vantage Performance Test

3DMark Vantage focuses on the two areas most critical to gaming performance: the CPU and the GPU. With the emergence of multi-package and multi-core configurations on both the CPU and GPU side, the performance scale of these areas has widened, and the visual and game-play effects made possible by these configurations are accordingly wide-ranging. This makes covering the entire spectrum of 3D gaming a difficult task. 3DMark Vantage has a standalone CPU test. It's very multi-core and multi-threading aware, it was no surprise to see the Core i7 series kick in real hard, it's also a title that likes HyperThreading which favors Core i7 tremendously. We'll look at the overall P score in the game segment of this article as well.

Now, we used a GeForce GTX 780 Ti, hence the few results. But it is obvious that Vantage really likes processors and memory bandwidth. Later in the article we'll look a little more at perf with a GeForce GTX 1080 as well. For now we need to move through the reference results first.

DX11: 3DMark 2013

3DMark includes everything you need to benchmark your hardware. With three all new tests you can bench everything from smartphones and tablets, to notebooks and home PCs, to the latest high-end, multi-GPU gaming desktops. And it's not just for Windows. With 3DMark you can compare your scores with Android and iOS devices too.

So here are some 3DMark FireStrike results. FireStrike is the latest showcase DirectX 11 benchmark designed for high-performance gaming PCs. The FireStrike scene is massively GPU limited and much more representative for gaming overall. As such, these scores will be much tighter. And indeed we see a petite difference at best.
