Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 - 1500 Watt PSU Review -
Product Showcase
And check that out, 4x40A and 2x45 Amps on the six 12V rails. If it was still a thing, then this PSU could take four GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards, and then still have 500 Watts left for the rest of the PC. A high-end graphics card consumes roughly 15~20 Amps per card at best, the math here is easy (multiply with 12 volts).
All of the power supplies in this Series have the necessary protection functions, even in extreme conditions. Below is a list of the included protections:
- OCP: Over Current Protection. This function will latch the power supply off if any given rail is overloaded beyond a safe level.
- OVP: Over Voltage Protection. This function will latch the power supply off if voltages exceed specifications.
- UVP: Under Voltage Protection. This function will latch the power supply off if voltages drop below specification.
- SCP: Short Circuit Protection. This function will latch the power supply off in the event of a short.
- OTP: Over Temperature Protection. In the event that temperatures exceed a specified value, the power supply will latch off.
- OPP: Over Power Protection. If the total output power of the power supply exceeds a safe level, the power supply will latch off.
The Series 12 DPP power supplies have a modular sleeved cable set that allows you to use only the cables you need for your particular set of components.
When it comes to wiring, we feel that there are more than enough connectors for this PSU model, have a look at the supplied connectors, all with decent length by the way. The benefits of this dark sleeve design are a cleaner, neater look. The cables are also long enough to support full-tower cases.
You'll also spot small plastic combs, with this you can tie and manage the sleeved cables, as that can get quite messy.
And last but not least, the OC Key. You can activate one big 12 Volts rail if you prefer that, you can simply use the jumper wire to enable it, or if you like a little more flexibility, you can use the included PCI Slot switch.
Today we’re putting the new be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W power supply on our test bench. The company is mainly known for its PSUs and Hilbert has recently reviewed the Dark Power 13 1000W. On the same day (24th January), the Pure Power 12M series was officially announced. We reviewed the predecessors, be quiet! Pure Power 11 (in 2018, it earned the “Recommended” award) and Pure Power 11 FM (in February 2022, also “Recommended), and we wonder what has changed in the meantime for the Pure Power 12M. The main difference is the full ATX 3.0 compatibility.
