As stated, everything about this chassis is done with style. It has very clean looks overall. I do think that the black / orange version looks better than the all-black version, but that of course is a personal preference.
Right, let's build us a system. Nothing out of the ordinary, I opted for an AMD platform for a change together with the PP9 PSU and the included LED strips for the PRO model Dark Base 900.
The MSI motherboard is an A88X which we pair with an 8-core processor. The processor and motherboard are however irrelevant to this build of course.
At the bottom we have now mounted the PSU. I mentioned this before but I would have really liked to have seen a cover for the PSU as the wiring is exposed with the tempered glass panel. And I do not like that in terms of aesthetics. I do realize I am nitpicking tremendously here though!
We have mounted a LED array to the front right side, we point the LEDs inwards so we'll have little reflection on the glass.
And here the camera sits at the bottom pointing upwards, thus the top side where again we'll position a LED array with the LEDs pointing inwards and not downwards to prevent shiny reflections on the glass.
If you do it subtle enough, you can really highlight the PC components (with a LED color of choice). Personally I like white LEDs and let the rest speak for itself. But you get the idea here pretty well I guess.
Today we’re putting the new be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W power supply on our test bench. The company is mainly known for its PSUs and Hilbert has recently reviewed the Dark Power 13 1000W. On the same day (24th January), the Pure Power 12M series was officially announced. We reviewed the predecessors, be quiet! Pure Power 11 (in 2018, it earned the “Recommended” award) and Pure Power 11 FM (in February 2022, also “Recommended), and we wonder what has changed in the meantime for the Pure Power 12M. The main difference is the full ATX 3.0 compatibility.
