ASUS PG27AQDM Review - 240Hz 1440p OLED monitor
Phenomenal Gaming with Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Monitor

We review the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM; this display was designed for gaming at 240 Hz, has a 27-inch display size and a resolution of 1440p, and a high refresh rate. The monitor uses OLED technology to provide accurate and vivid color representation, and it includes adaptive sync features such as G-SYNC and freesync to ensure velvety gameplay. It offers Brightness: 450 cd/m2 (1000 cd/m2 peak). The Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is the latest premium offering from Asus, engineered for gaming enthusiasts who seek exceptional performance and colors dripping of their screen. With a 240Hz OLED panel (ideal) for HDR gaming, this monitor impressed us deeply, however it's far from perfect. The 27-inch monitor features a 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and utilizes OLED panel technology. It has an incredibly swift 0.03ms response time, an infinite contrast ratio. The monitor is VESA compatible (100 x 100) and offers connectivity options such as DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2, and a 3.5mm jack.

Sporting a stylish matte black finish with RGB LED accents and a unique ROG projector light, the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM boasts an attractive design. For better or worse, the Republic of Gamers brand is easily recognizable in the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM. The nearly bezel-less panel and slim form factor are achieved due to the absence of a backlight unit. Built with precision using durable, high-quality plastics, the monitor's construction is both robust and reliable. The sturdy stand offers stability, ensuring the screen remains steady during intense gaming sessions. Easily adjustable, the stand provides tilt, swivel, pivot, and height modification options. The PG27AQDM is firmly anchored on your desk by its wide, angular base. This unit is both stylish and robust, boasting integrated LED lighting that can be tailored to your preferences. A 100x100mm VESA adapter is also included for those who wish to use third-party monitor stands or arms.

The connectivity options of the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM leave room for improvement. Equipped with only two HDMI 2.0 ports and a single DisplayPort 1.4, the HDMI ports are capped at 120Hz. While this restriction isn't an issue for the latest console gamers, which can only reach 120Hz output, users with multiple PCs should be aware of this limitation. Additionally, the monitor's USB capabilities fall short. Boasting just two USB-A downstream ports powered by a USB-B upstream port, the absence of USB-C is notable. Given the monitor's price point, it would have been advantageous for Asus to include USB-C functionality.

The monitor covers over 100% of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts (ASUS claims), resulting in deep vibrancy. The monitor eliminates blur with near-instantaneous pixel response times, making it perfect for fast-paced games. It is also G-Sync and FreeSync compatible, ensuring seamless, tear-free performance. The Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM also boasts a noteworthy feature called 'uniform brightness.' With uniform brightness, Asus prevents the screen from altering its brightness based on the displayed image. Numerous first-generation OLED monitors would dim their brightness as more white pixels were activated. The uniform brightness feature restricts peak brightness for smaller windows and maintains a consistent brightness level. In our guru3d opinion, this functionality proves essential for activities beyond gaming. Even if one predominantly resides in a 'dark mode only' environment - as many OLED users tend to do - most programs and websites inherently display white backgrounds. It can be bothersome when working or browsing, as screen brightness fluctuates depending on the content viewed. With the uniform brightness feature, users no longer need to be concerned about this issue.
